Lentil and Spinach Soup

Preparation time:
   5 minutes   * Cooking time: 15 minutes   * Makes 5 cups
 
Ingredients How To ?
  • 1/2 teacup masoor dal
  • 1 teacup chopped spinach
  • 3 sliced onions
  • 3medium sized tomatoes, cut into big pieces
  • 1 teacup skim milk
  • 2 cloves crushed garlic (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt to taste

For Serving

  • Lemon Juice
  1. Mix the spinach, onions, tomatoes, masoor dal and garlic
  2. Add 7 teacups of water and cook in pressure cooker for 10 minutes. When cooked, blend in a mixer. Sieve
  3. Heat the milk and add to the soup
  4. Add the chili powder and salt 

* Serve Hot with lemon juice

Health Information: Tomatoes are rich source of Vitamin C, A and potassium. Combined with spinach which contains iron and calcium, and masoor dal which contains essential amino acids and with milk, they make a nourishing
