BLOOD TYPE DIET
According to Dr. Peter D’ Adamo, there is a chemical reaction between
our blood and the food that we eat. This reaction is a part of our
heredity. These reactions are caused by a protein called Lectin found
abundantly in variety of foods. Lectins when are not compatible with the
type of antigen in our blood causes blood cells to agglutinate in
certain parts of our body which may harm any of our vital body organs or
may cause serious health problems or disease. |

Fortunately most of the lectins found in food are not life threatening
but may cause variety of other problems especially if they are
incompatible with that specific blood type. Most of the Lectins are
thrown out of the body due to body’s own immune response but still a
little may remain posing few health problems.
A blood type diet allows one to have an idea of the foods to be included
and foods to be avoided for a particular blood type. No two person
having different blood groups will stay healthy for longer if given a
similar diet, as the food suitable for one may not be fit for
consumption for the other.
The blood type diet is a diet advocated by Peter D'Adamo, a naturopathic
physician, and outlined in his book Eat Right 4 Your Type. D'Adamo's
claim is that ABO blood type is the most important factor in determining
a healthy diet, and he promotes distinct diets for people with O, A, B,
and AB blood types.
Each type has unique dietary recommendations:
Blood group O is believed by D'Adamo to be the hunter, the earliest
human blood group. The diet recommends that this blood group eat a
higher protein diet. Type O Blood Group people have high stomach acid
and can digest meat and meat product. They must adopt high intensity
work out in their daily routine to keep fit. It is strongly recommended
to avoid wheat and its products, cruciferous vegetables by Type O
people.
Blood group A is called the agrarian or cultivator by D'Adamo, who
believes it to be a more recently evolved blood type, The diet
recommends that individuals of blood group A eat a diet emphasizing
vegetables and free of red meat, a more vegetarian food intake. They can
digest legumes, variety of vegetables, fermented dairy products. Types
are prone to stress related problems, so they must include calming
exercises in their routine.
Blood group B is, according to D'Adamo, the nomad, associated with a
strong immune system and a flexible digestive system. Type B Blood Group
people can have wide and wholesome variety of food. They can avoid life
threatening diseases if they follow their food type. Corn, lentils and
sesame seeds cause weight gain in type B. these food groups affect the
efficacy of the system, resulting in fatigue, fluid retention and
hypoglycemia. Chicken is another food item needs to be eliminated from
the diet. It is recommended for Type Bs to choose exercise which
challenges their mind and body.
Blood group AB, according to D'Adamo, the enigma, the most recently
evolved type, arriving less than 1,000 years ago. Type AB Blood Group
people have mix reaction with food Lectins. They best digest dairy
products along with legumes and pulses, nuts and oil seeds and cereals.
Calming exercise along with vigorous activity is advisable fitness
regimen for Type ABs.
